Charles Martin vs Anthony Joshua
Looking forward to Saturday. Good undercard as well.

Starting to warm to Martin. Come across really well.

Hard one to predict as I haven't seen too much of Charles in action but looks pretty awkward as most southpaws are.

Any thoughts?...Other than thinking I'm a cunt etc....

i think Joshua within six rounds. i liked the fact Joshua knew what he did wrong in his last fight and no doubt would have worked hard on his movement

Can't wait.

Massive West Ham presences outside the ring. also a few West Ham on undercard and in Joshua's corner.

AJ in 8 I reckon. Hard fight but a good one for him

Scumb0 - help me understand Joshua's odds please.

1/5 is ridiculous, no?

I've had money on a Martin KO

Hope I'm wrong.

Re: Charles Martin vs Anthony Joshua
1/5 is far too short.

I think he'll win but that's too short.

Or rather Martin is probably too long at 7/2

I don't get it Stewie, bookies are putting people off having a flutter if you ask me. Ridiculous odds.

Cheers - wondered whether anyone had seen anything of Martin to suggest he really is that average, but seems not.

Haye was saying yesterday that the sparring talk is that he's shit hot.

Re: Charles Martin vs Anthony Joshua
he's got a decent left hook but i think his style will leave him wide open to Joshua's power

Re: Charles Martin vs Anthony Joshua
I'm a massive boxing fan but to be honest, I hadn't really heard much about Charles Martin before he fought for the vacant title.

There's not even much footage on YouTube to go on.

That's not to say he isn't a very good boxer of course and a couple of people who have seen him in training this last fortnight say he looks phenomenonal.

AJ still hasn't been in with anyone of note so I'm simply not qualified to make a prediction .

Makes it more exciting.

Re: Charles Martin vs Anthony Joshua
Arguably Joshua's first real test. Both now ranked inside the top ten heavyweights in the world so should be interesting. Joshua will have to be careful with Martin being a Southpaw.

Joshua's sheer strength and power to see him through rather than technique and form. Something he is going to have to improve on especially if Eddie Hearn gets his way with Fury fighting Joshua at the end of the year.

Re: Charles Martin vs Anthony Joshua
Just my personal view, but I think they took this title shot sharpish because they don't fancy Joshua against any of the other two champions. All the talk since he started as pro has been about doing things in stages, no rush no rush no rush, build up against opponents, doing it in stages, then all of a sudden, after Hearn saw his Bruno legs against Whyte, he has taken a World title shot straight away. He's worried about his cash cow, so he's taking on the lesser of all the champs in the hope AJ gets the KO.

Don't get me wrong, with his power, he could easily KO Martin, but the worry is he is suspect to a left, and Martin hits a lot harder with his left than Whyte, who rocked AJ with the only clean shot he has taken as a pro, so I can see one clean left finishing it early.

Could be wrong, but I'm having a few quid on it.
